Community Information
Cannon Beach,
OR Website
Cannon Beach was named for the cannon that washed ashore from a schooner
shipwrecked in 1846. The coastline includes one of the world's larger monoliths,
Haystack Rock. A mile west, Tillamook Rock holds one of the most historic
lighthouses on the coast.
The community has retained a small town aura despite being a magnet for crowds
from Portland and farther. Cannon Beach is one of the centers for artistics
activity on the Oregon Coast. Festivals include Sandcastle Day, Stormy Weather
Arts Festival, the annual Chamber Auction, the annual Dog Show, Haystack Holidays,
the Kite Festival, and the annual Dog Show. Cannon Beach also has a wide variety
of art galleries.
