Oregon City is located approximately 13 miles south of Portland, Oregon, along
the banks of the Willamette and Clackamas Rivers. Recreational opportunities
include fishing, boating, swimming and golfing. The City has a long history,
and was Oregon's first State Capital.
Oregon City is the first incorporated city west of the Mississippi. Established
in 1829 by Dr. John McLoughlin as a lumber mill near Willamette Falls, it was
later designated as Oregon's territorial capital. Visiting its many museums
and historical buildings allows you a glimpse of pioneer life in Oregon territory:
